Antiparos
The tiny Cycladic Island, known as the favourite destination of mega -celebrities such as Tom Hanks and Nia Vardalos, is the absolute “King” of laid-back holidays with a twist of elegance.
Choose Antiparos for all the right reasons
The island of Antiparos, resting next to its much larger “sibling” Paros, is truly very small, so small that you don’t need more than half an hour to drive from one end to the other; however, it offers limitless possibilities of relaxation, fun, and elegant Cycladic lifestyle to sophisticated travellers from all over the world. The island is full of beautiful beaches, great restaurants for all tastes and budgets, posh designer stores, cute local shops, beautiful excursion opportunities, and amazing experiences. At the same time, the neighbouring Paros Island stands just 7 minutes by ferry away, ready to present you with a vibrant -and equally- cosmopolitan alternative, in case you need a break from the best holidays you have ever enjoyed!
Cycladic grace in its purest form
The Chora of Antiparos, exactly as the island itself, is small but magical. When the ferry approaches the picturesque petite port, you will feel the relaxing energy paired with unpretentious eclecticism taking over all your senses. The main village reflects the Cycladic spirit at its best: cubic whitewashed houses with colourful doors, stone-paved pedestrian-only alleys adorned by bougainvillea and showcasing a wide array of local shops, ice-cream stores, beautiful restaurants and cafes, as well as posh designer stores, all adding their special touch to the island’s unique vibe.
The small port with its fishing boats resting next to luxurious yachts is one of the best evening strolls, before choosing to take a seat at one of the traditional tavernas almost touching the water, or head towards the central alley offering its own amazing selection of dining, shopping, and drinking options. Head towards Agios Nikolaos square which is the centre of day and nightlife of the island, bustling with people of all ages and styles.
While walking on the main alley, take a right turn through the characteristic archway and you will find yourself in the Venetian Castle area, dating all the way back to the 15th century. Also called “Kastro” in Greek, this castle was constructed to keep the inhabitants safe from the numerous pirate raids back in the days, and today offers a medieval kind of feeling and a beautiful area to take pictures and enjoy your walk.
Diving into paradise
Like all Cycladic islands, Antiparos has its fair share of beautiful beaches, organised and non-organised, posh and boho, so everyone can find something that suits them. For those seeking a touch of luxury and glam, always in a more laid-back style though, Soros beach with its long stray of sand and small smooth pebbles is a most popular choice with a lively beach bar, serving as a to-see-and-be-seen meeting point. Also, Fanari beach, very close to Chora, offers a vibrant beach lifestyle with a much-visited beach restaurant and bar and water sports options.
The once quaint Apantima Cove has transformed into one of the island’s most exclusive beach options with a boho-chic beach restaurant and bar called Beach House Antiparos, taking over and bringing famous Greek chefs to create its dishes. This year, a multi-awarded Athenian restaurant and its chef will be serving some of the best menus on the island, enjoyed with our feet buried in the warm sand. Apart from the above, several non-organised or semi-organised beach choices speak directly to our hearts.
Psaraliki beach, in walking-distance from Chora, is a long sandy beach with some basic facilities and crystal-clear waters, Panagia beach is totally unorganised and extremely beautiful, with thick shades provided by the many tamarisks to be found here. Don’t miss the opportunity to sample traditional Greek cuisine at the small family tavern just a few steps away from the bay. Agios Georgios, on the other side of the island, has an organised and a non-organised part, and offers an amazing seabed, ideal for snorkelling, while the Camping beach is according to many one of the most beautiful on the island.

Amazing experiences
In contrast to its small size, Antiparos is the ideal setting for creating lifelong memories and living through beautiful experiences of all types and kinds. First and foremost, the dining scene here is one of the best in the country, with numerous Athenian restaurants “visiting” for the summer and their famous chefs making the best of the top-quality local produce. At the same time, traditional, family-owned tavernas offer heartwarming local dishes and authentic Greek hospitality, while Italian, Mexican, Japanese, modern creative, farm-to-table, and many more options are present in the restaurant scene of this tiny island.
The nightlife is equally strong, ranging from posh cocktail bars to impromptu parties at the Camping beach and the famous La Luna disco, an authentic disco that remains untouched from the ‘80s and opens its doors after 2 am. A great place to enjoy a cocktail is the beach of Sifneiko at sunset, where everyone gathers to salute the sun setting and paint the sky in all possible shades of pink before it vanishes into the sea. The sunset is also beautiful from the Camping beach, with both spots standing within walking distance from Chora.
A true must-visit, the Antiparos Cave, located about 10km away from Chora, surely deserves your attention. A stunning collection of imposing stalagmites and stalactites await at the bottom of the 85m deep cave, with the oldest one estimated to be 45 million years old. The cave is also an archaeological site, as it has been used as a hiding place from the Stone Age to the time of Alexander the Great. Last but surely not least, one must mention that Antiparos, located behind the island of Paros, is usually protected by the meltemia (strong summer winds), making it one of the few wind-free islands of the Cyclades.
