From its early years of glory, the “island of the winds” showed an unprecedented openness to its audience’s sexual orientation, and for this reason Mykonos became one of the world’s premiere gay destinations. Take the XLSIOR annual gay festival, which will take place this year between August 16th – 23rd, attracting tens of thousands of visitors, who will not only have the time of their lives, but will swim in the serene beautiful waters, fall in love and discover a vast array of gay friendly sites for accommodation, food and drink. Mykonos is known for its cosmopolitan vibe and luxury accommodation and services, as well as its party scene and beautiful, sandy beaches. Chora is considered one of the most iconic capitals of the Greek islands, with its Cycladic architecture as well as boutique shops of the most well-known international brands and a large selection of gourmet and traditional restaurants and bars.

In the summer months Mykonos is also a moderately hot month, with average temperature ranging between min 23°C and max 30°C. The perfect water temperature of 24°C in combination with almost zero accumulated rainfall and rainfall days, makes August a great period for swimming and other water activities.
