Sagrada Familia
The life’s work of Catalonia’s most famous architect, Antoni Gaudí. The Sagrada Família combines several architectural styles including Catalan Modernism, Art Nouveau and Spanish Late-Gothic, but Gaudí’s masterpiece defies these kinds of definitions when you look up open-mouthed at the ceiling of the nave. The temple is under continuous construction for more than a century and it is the tallest religious building in Europe.

Park Güell
Explore one of the most iconic sites of Barcelona, with its rich history and cultural interest. Keep your eyes peeled for the exquisite serpentine bench and the figure of a woman ‘hidden’ among the twisted stone columns. And make sure to trek up to the park’s highest point, marked with a cross, for outstanding views of the city all the way out to sea.

Barcelona is a great place for Christmas shopping with a wide range of shops and department stores catering to all budgets and tastes. La Fira de Santa Llucia, the oldest market of the city, Fira de Nadal del Port Vell, Fira de Nadal i Reis and Sagrada Familia Christmas market give a completely festive character during the month of December and during the Christmas period.

Casa Milà
Described variously as rising dough, molten lava and a stone lung, the last secular building designed by Gaudí, the Casa Milà (popularly known as La Pedrera, ‘the stone quarry’) has no straight lines. It is an astonishing and daring feat of architecture, and the culmination of the architect’s experimental attempts to recreate natural forms with bricks and mortar. Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it provides three exhibition spaces, each one with a specific artistic theme.

Gothic Quarter
The Gothic Quarter is part of Barcelona’s old city, home of the original city of Barcino that was founded by the Romans 2,000 years ago. You can wonder through the narrow medieval streets, admire the special scenery and get to know the history of the city.
The nearest underground stations are the Drassanes, Liceu & Urquinaona station. From both stations you are within a few minutes’ walk in the heart of the Gothic Quarter.
La Boqueria Market
One of Barcelona’s most recognisable markets. All your senses will be wowed by the colours of the fresh products, the smells of the open kitchens, the hollers of the garrulous vendors and the tastes of pretty much everything you get your hands on.

Barceloneta
Barceloneta is a neighbourhood in the Ciutat Vella (Old Town) in Barcelona that has the most accessible beach in the city. Barceloneta Beach, located in a former fishing district, is one of the city’s oldest and best-loved beaches. The whole waterfront area was remodeled way back in 1992 for the Barcelona Olympics and is an excellent place to grab an ice cream and have a walk.

La Rambla
La Rambla is the most famous street in Barcelona. This 1.2km boulevard starts at Plaça de Catalunya and ends at the statue of Christopher Columbus down by the port. It is always lively, packed with tourists, locals and street artists who pose like living statues. Numerous terraces and restaurants are located on both sides of the street and it is very enjoyable to sit in one of its terraces to see people come and go.

Plaça de Catalunya
Plaça de Catalunya is the largest, most central square in Barcelona. In other words, it’s in the heart of the city, it’s the junction between the Old City and the massive Eixample district, and gives you direct access to some of the city’s most popular streets, including La Rambla, Passeig de Gràcia and Portal de l’Angel

Parks and Gardens
Barcelona offers delightful green spaces and parks, beautifully designed gardens and plenty of space for picnics and refreshing walks. A visit to Parc de la Ciutadella is definitely a must thing to do in Barcelona, Parc de Montjuïc with the beloved Castel de Montjuïc, or take a stroll through Jardins de Pedralbes, the former residence of the Spanish royal family, most recently occupied by King Alfonso XIII until it was gifted to the city in 1931.

El Raval
Take a trip into a vibrant, multi-cultural neighbourhood in the heart of Barcelona, the part closest to the Old Port. El Raval is famous for it’s edgy and bohemian vibe, it has some of the city’s top museums, a thriving street art scene, top restaurants and intense night life, but also a place where you would better use common sense when going out at night. It is surrounded by the neighbourhoods of Sant Antoni, the Gothic Quarter and El Poble Sec.

Eating Paella in Barcelona
The seaside neighbourhood of Barceloneta serves up some of the city’s best paella. Paella has its origins in Valencia but you’ll find plenty of options in Barcelona if you’re looking to sample this most traditional of dishes.
Picasso Museum
Study Pablo’s early works at the Picasso Museum. You can see Barcelona’s very own collection of 4,000 works and find out the artist’s formative work and examine how his style quickly evolved, especially between 1890 and 1904.

Whether you want to spend big or just browse, Barcelona offers everything a discerning buyer could possibly want and is packed with luxury shops, exclusive brands, designer fashion, fine jewels, art and antiques. Passeig de Gràcia, Avinguda Diagonal, El Born and Carrer Major de Sarrià are some examples for a satisfying shopping experience.
Camp Nou
In the western Les Corts neighbourhood is the 99,000-seater stadium that has been the home ground of FC Barcelona since 1957. It’s one of Europe’s football cathedrals and even if you have no affinity for the team you have to visit Camp Nou to appreciate the dizzying scale of the arena.

The nearest underground station is Collblanc which is on the blue metro line. The Barcelona FC stadium is a short 10 minute walk from the underground.
Aquàrium Barcelona
The marine aquarium is located in Port Vell; the oldest part of the Barcelona harbour that nowadays has been transformed into a centre of recreation. The Aquàrium is Europe’s largest and most important Museum of Marine Science of the Mediterranean, maritime habitats are emulated in over 35 different water basins. You will find over 11,000 marine animals from 450 species and an 80-metres-long underwater tunnel through the shark basin.
