Athens and the Riviera

The Cyclades

Crete, the Ionian and the mainland
Crete combines beaches, Minoan sites and mountain villages. Corfu and the Ionian islands are green and sheltered, ideal for families and sailing. On the mainland, Delphi, Meteora, Nafplio and the Peloponnese reward a slower road trip.
When to travel
May, June, September and early October are the sweet spot: warm sea, long days and fewer crowds. July and August are the liveliest months on the islands. Athens, Crete and the mainland work well all year, and Greek Orthodox Easter is a special time to visit villages and islands.
